Beer, bud, poker, crack, meth, heroine, food, gambling, sex, pills and more.  Whatever your D.O.C (drug of choice) is, it is all the same sickness.  What I have come to understand about addiction more than anything is that it is both a “spiritual” and “physical” sickness, and it does not discriminate.  It is an obsession of the mind, and it crops up anywhere you let it when you don’t work some sort of program of action to “recover.”   What I have also learned is that you don’t have to be a “junkie” or an “alcoholic” to have the spiritual malady and struggles that I and the many others have as addicts.  The program of recovery has helped me to grow and change in every facet of my life.  What began as a solution to my drink, drug and gambling problem became a launching pad into growth and healing; spiritually, emotionally and mentally.  This is a blog dedicated to the journey of recovery.   It is not always an easy journey, but it has been one definitely worth taking.   This is a crazy, beautiful, raw journey and I welcome you to the story of my life as a recovering addict.  It’s not a perfect life, but its my life and on most days I am grateful to be able to *show up* for it!
